Parenting Marathon!

Parenting is an absolute marathon! When we're running a marathon, what is one thing we should never do? That's right! We should never try to sprint the entire way, right? It's crazy to think that we would be able to sprint it all.

We have to pace ourselves in a marathon. And since parenting is like a marathon, it only makes sense for us parents to pace ourselves in our never-ending parenting responsibilities and energy-expenditures of raising our young.

Parenting

Do you want to know something cool that our parenting marathon has over a real-life runner's marathon? We parents get to use different parenting muscles as we progress through our marathon, so we don't wear out as much as the real marathon runners do.

Real marathon runners don't get to use a lot of different muscles. Sure, they vary a bit, but it's still the same repetitive pounding on their knees. Over time this repetitive pounding causes real marathon runners to fade in performance.

However, when it comes to the parenting marathon, our experience is different. Sure we still have vast distances to cover and hills to climb, as well as slippery slopes. And every parent will agree that parenting is exhausting. It is full of ups and downs with periods of vast flat runs and monotony between all the excitements, or should I say craziness.

However, in contrast to real marathon runners who fade with age as their muscles wear and tear, many of our parenting muscles tend to get better with age. With much use equaling experience, we get to watch our hard work go toward our children developing into wonderful people of their own.

Parenting

Now, as my Granddaddy always said, "Go learn, lead, and lay the way to a better world for all of us. Stop trying to sprint. And stop sweating all the small stuff so much. Remember, parenting is a marathon, so pace yourself and enjoy it because, at some point, it's going to get really good. And once again parents, thanks in advance for all that you do, and all that you will do...
